    Excerpts from the 'manifesto':

You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today but you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off.

You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience. You thought it was one pathetic boy’s life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people.

Do you know what it feels to be spit on your face and to have trash shoved down your throat? Do you know what it feels like to dig your own grave? Do you know what it feels like to have throat slashed from ear to ear? Do you know what it feels like to be torched alive? Do you know what it feels like to be humiliated and be impaled upon on a cross? And left to bleed to death for your amusement? You have never felt a single ounce of pain your whole life. Did you want to inject as much misery in our lives as you can just because you can?

You had everything you wanted. Your Mercedes wasn’t enough, you brats. Your golden necklaces weren’t enough, you snobs. Your trust fund wasn’t enough. Your vodka and Cognac weren’t enough. All your debaucheries weren’t enough. Those weren’t enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything.

    On one of the videos:

I didn’t have to do this. I could have left. I could have fled. But no, I will no longer run ... It’s not for me. For my children, for my brothers and sisters that you f---, I did it for them.

On a video message minutes before the second shooting:

This is it. This is where it all ends. End of the road. What a life it was. Some life.

Reasons why Virginia Tech is the worst devastation in U.S. history after 911 and Katrina.

Its the deadliest school shooting in American history with 33 dead and 20 injured (to date). The dead includes the shooter himself who has been identified as 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui, a South Korean who had migrated to the States when he was 8. He was a senior in the English department.

He had been described as a 'depressed and deeply disturbed young man' and this was not left unnoticed as his 'grotesque' creative writing projects led a professor to refer him for psychological counseling. "He was very quiet, always by himself," said a neighbour. Few knew who he was. Few knew he existed maybe.
Apparently his body was found with a note containing 'obscenities and denunciations' of 'rich kids' (his parents worked at a dry cleaners).

There wasn't just one shooting, there were two.
What's more controversional is how the university had acted after the first shooting, prior to the second shooting. Many questions had been raised about how they had handled and should have handled it.

The first shooting was reported to have occured at 7.15am at a coed dormitory, Ambler Johnston Hall. The shooting left 2 persons dead. It wasn't until 2 hours later at 9.26am, when emails were sent out to staff and students regarding the gunfire. A second email sent out a few minutes later issued a warning regarding the gunman who was still on the loose.

So why this 2 hours disparity?

Most of the students who came to school were unaware of such emails, reports say, as most had already left their house, on the way to school when the emails were sent out.

And why wasn't school cancelled immediately?

The second shooting, 3 hours after the first shooting, left 30 more dead and 20 injured. Finally, the school issued a warning in a third email that classes were cancelled and students were told to remain indoors.

    Too little too late.

    Who is to be blamed?

The shooter? The bullies whom he detested for making his life difficult? His parents for not seeing this sooner? The school for reacting slowly to the first shooting and not cancelling classes immediately?

Or the flawed American school system - favouring the talented, labelling the losers and turning a blind eye to the bullying?

Or the U.S. government for not banning firearms in the first place?
