Its been months since my VISA interview and exactly one week from now I should be on a plane, eager to escape the hot temperatures of Singapore, and visit your beautiful and cooler state of Alaska. I was hoping to work my ass off and earn big bucks over there. Heck, I would take a second job if I have to.
And after that I was hoping to be traveling around your vast country, from the west side, along California, to the east side, the Big Apple and DC.
You can call it 'living my American dream'.
But, my VISA is still not approved, Uncle Sam.
Have you ever had something that you wanted so badly to be dangled in front of your face, out-of-reach?
This is something that is supposed to be making me happy and excited; preparing, shopping for new clothes, going out with family and meeting up with friends...
But, instead, the past few weeks I have been on a rollercoaster of emotions. From shock to anger to anxiety and now, Uncle Sam, I am feeling indifferent.
Screw you.
Last I heard the second last guy to get his VISA approved a few weeks ago is also a Malay-Muslim.
Well done.
What do you want me to say?
That I am only a Muslim on paper and an atheist in life?
You want me to denounce my religion, Uncle Sam?
Cause right now, you are no different than that director of 'Fitna'.
You are making me feel ashamed.
Ashamed because being a Muslim is a hindrance to being accepted into your country.
Ashamed because the 'Mohamed' in my name brings suspicion instead of honor.
Ashamed because the colour of my skin is the reason for ridicule and fear (just like Kumar's situation in 'Harold and Kumar'... love that show! ehem... ).
Ashamed because I feel ashamed of my religion.
So thank you, Uncle Sam.
That said I would still be waiting for that VISA.
And till that day when it comes, my American dream now is to have the VISA wiped along the entire length of my ass crack (ala 'Harold and Kumar').

In a nutshell, a video of a woman in China, who crushed a kitten to death with her heels, was circulated in the Internet and caused a lot of furore. Reasons for doing the senseless and inhumane act, she was recently divorced and going through depression.
F**king bitch. I wouldn't even crush a snail intentionally and she mercilessly did this repeatedly with heels digging into the kitten's head and all. The very bloody video has since been removed but the gruesome pictures can still be found here.
The Puppy-Marine Saga:
A video of a Marine, who was posted in Iraq, throwing a puppy of a cliff, found its way into Youtube. The video (videos, after many other copies where posted) drew a lot of controversy in the US because of the obvious disregard for life and that the one doing the deed was a Marine.
But the authenticity of the video has been questioned, cos' the dog was unusually motionless and silent as it was held by the scruff of the neck in the beginning and that the yelps heard as it was thrown over the cliff could have been dubbed.

I heard that the video was in fact real and that the Marine was sent to prison. Mindless dick. You deserved that.
Why? Why? Why?:
Reports said that the woman was not remorseful initially, but under the pressure of the media and animal rights activists, broke her stand and apologised for her actions.
The Marine is allegedly not remorseful to date.
I don't get how these people can feel no guilt for doing all these.
Just proves to show that some humans can be extremely inhumane, void of sympathy or remorse.
They can be beasts.
They are beasts...

I mean isn't the show all about promoting and celebrating Asian talents? Now it has become nothing but mean and petty name calling.
Is it all necessary? Personally attacking Hady and his fans? Bringing politics and nationalism into the picture? Attacking Singaporeans as a whole? Using derogatory and other hate terms to put your points across...
Shame on you.
And isn't the equally immature exchange from the pro-Hady camp just as wrong? Lashing out against those in the opposing camp with snobbish retaliation. Stooping to their low and trading insults are never justifiable. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Has Asian Idol bring more harm than good? Should we do away with it altogether?
I agree with Twinnie. We should stop all these World Idol or Asian Idol competitions.
They would just be bringing more animosity instead of bringing the countries closer.
Shame on us for allowing racial lines, national boundaries and hatred to overshadow the competition.
Now, aside from the rampant political strife and natural disasters across Asia, we have this to add to our list of problems...
We have totally missed the point.

Kinda hard to stomach the video. The arrogant taunting, the total disrespect for the old man and his way of making a decent living and the final scene where they refuse to pay him the fare. Totally digusting.
