There he was.
Taufik Batisah.
Yes. THE Taufik Batisah, the 7-Eleven guy.
Haha...
OKOK. He is more than just the 7-Eleven poster-boy.
He is the first Singapore Idol.
Singapore Idol-ed, to be exact.
What he is doing now is anyone's guess.
Admit it, his star has lost its lustre.
But yet some of my female friends went gaa-gaa when I SMSed them to tell them what happened.
I was staring at him from the start when I was doing my warm-up stretching exercises to confirm my suspicions.
And he looked back at me too once in a while.
Maybe he sees the resemblance too... ehem...
Or maybe he was getting irritated, being stared at.
I wanted to check lah...
He looks like David Blane. With the over-mascara-ed eyes (though he claims to be au natural)...
He was taller than I imagine. And he looked beefier. When I mentioned that, my female friends gushed.
He was doing the bridges beside me with his buddy (one of the gym's many regulars I got acquainted with) as I was cooling down.
And he reeked... lol.
And we shared the same bench as we changed out of our gym clothes. I'm sure many girls (and some pink-blooded guys) will be dying to be in my shoes...
Now I can boast that I'm a member of Taufik Batisah's gym.
He is the third star so far to 'grace' my gym, the first being this hot Suria personality, what's-her-name (I hardly watch the channel bah) and this Channel 8 (or izzit U?) actor.
I'm not really a fan of Taufik. But I do admit I was overjoyed when he beat that what's-his-face-Sly (and I confess, I voted for Taufik 10 times, that would be S$5 back then, but in today's context, that would have been $6... Wah... 1 dollar difference le...).
However, now the poor guy has been reduced to a 7-Eleven poster boy and nothing more.
Any new albums in the future? It looks bleak.
Just wait till another new idol is crowned, (unlike the first American Idol) I think Taufik's star will slowly die off.
Speaking of the second Singapore Idol, I hope its going to be Hady. He can sing unlike two other equally popular guys in the show.
Unfortunately, he might have something against him.
Singapore wouldn't want another young Malay male to be crowned again.
Racist, I know.
Fact? I hope not.
Blogger's note: To respect Mr Taufik's privacy, the name of the gym shall not be disclosed. And I overheard from a conversation with his entourage, he would make it his regular gym.
