    Hi. I am Orked Alesha.

Hi. My name is Orked Alesha.
I will be 4 months old this coming 7th of May.

This is me all dolled-up. I like to play dress up as you can see.
And I also like to pose for pictures.

Other hobbies of mine include reading as you can see in my (awesome-est) uncle's previous entry.

I like to laugh and play. And I can get very noisy at times...
I love to play in the tub and splash water around!

My favourite toy is (believe or not) any plastic bags. I like to make noise with them.

I really like to go out with my family and go for a ride in the car.

I like to stand up (with someone's support of course) or pretend that I am Supergirl flying around.

My least favourite thing to do is to put on a top or to have my face powdered. I get really really pissed off.

My favourite food is my left fist and sometimes when my left hand is occupied, my right fist.

Did I mention I like to blog too? Here's my blog.

    Hehe... This is fun...

    Ermm... Mummy... I'm falling!!!

Eww... Mummy I think I made a poo poo.

    Wondering.

My niece just turned 3 months old a few days back.
3 months of pure joy since she came into our world.

And so much has happened in those three months.
She has cried her first tears, smiled her first smile and laughed her first laugh.

She is really smart, I can tell you that. She has made a number of little accomplishments; little feats we take for granted now. Like turning her little head herself, rolling on the bed on her own or cooing back at the person cooing over her. She knows her little routine now; when she should be sleeping, bathing or feeding.

    3 months.

    Now, that's a long time.

As long as my stay in the U.S. starting from next month.
Woah... I would be gone for three months; I've never really thought about how long that actually is.

Well sure if you measure those three months like you normally would, according to the semester or by project datelines, that would be mere peanuts... but for my niece those three months would be a very long time - imagine the number of other accomplishments she could make.

And I won't be around to see them this time.

PS: My VISA is still being processed by the America embassy. Exactly one more month before I'm due to fly off and of course I'm worried shit. Please please please go well.

    Baby Whisperer.

I think I have an ability to 'talk' to my niece. Yes, you heard me right, 'talk'.

I can 'talk' to her and she 'talks' back. Its really the cutest thing. And when the 'conversation' gets to a climax we'll both be laughing.

No one else comes close to my place as the "Baby Whisperer". Thats our special thing we have together.

And these moments are the highlights of my day.
Just making her smile, makes my day.

These pictures were taken last week from the "cukur rambut" ceremony.

I hope I can capture some pictures of her smiling or laughing, so I can upload them here. By the way I bought a new camera, Canon PowerShot S5 IS just yesterday.

Might look bulky, but a couple of my photographing enthusiasts friends recommended the camera to me.

But yeah, I'm in love with the camera. It was love at first sight.
While those at the counter who were looking to buy cameras were asking about lenses, kits, capabilities and what have you, I was going, "Ooohh... So shiny..."

Aiyoh so himbotic. But good things come to those who are noobs; I got myself a number of freebies to go along with the camera.

Now excuse me as I take more shots of my beautiful model, my niece.

PS: I can't wait to bring the camera to Tioman next weekend!!!

    44th Day
Bitched on: Saturday, February 23, 2008
    Time: 2/23/2008 10:01:00 PM

"I'm a new soul I came to this strange world hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take.
But since I came here felt the joy and the fear finding myself making every possible mistake."
    - "New Soul" by Yael Naim
My niece would be celebrating her 44th day anniversary tomorrow. And according to Malay/Muslim tradition, she would have her first and only 'cukur rambut' ceremony.

The cukur rambut ('cut hair' in Malay) ceremony* includes prayers, a feast and of course as the name suggests, the 'highlight' of the ceremony is to cut a lil bit of her hair. The weight of her cut strands of hair (per gram) would then be multiplied by the cost of gold per gram. And the money would then be donated to charity.

    "Oh man, I feel old..."

*I'm not quite sure how the entire ceremony really goes, been to only a couple when I was younger.

More updates on my adorable baby niece. I just can't get enough of her...

Awww... Look at that... Awww... She looks like an anime cartoon character (like one of those cute pokemons...)

She's not just adorable and cute, okay? She is extremely bright and she is just over three weeks old!

That is her sticking out her tongue after I was sticking out my tongue at her...

She likes to smile and stuff (she has a set of dimples... *all together now* Awww...).
And she loves watching the TV; like when you put her on the bed, she would just be content looking at the TV.

But most of the time she looks like this:

This is what I call the "stoned look". She often goes into the stare-into-blank-space-mood. And this is the time when you can shower her with as many kisses and put on cute girly accessories on her like hairbands, dresses and stuff and she wouldn't protest.

I simply can't get enough of her... *grinz*

    Oh,
and she thinks she is already a big girl, cause she doesn't like to be cradle carried, instead she likes to be hip carried. She can't even support her head properly lah...

    She's such a little princess.

I have become one of those bloggers who would just put up pictures and not blog much..

    Who cares?

I just wanna show off that my niece is like so cute...

She had 5 camera phones all aimed at her for these shots. This is her spot-on impersonation of Paris Hilton
    .
    Cute right? Aiyoh...

Now, two things make me rush home everyday. First its her, definitely, to catch her before she sleeps.

And secondly to catch the 9pm Chinese drama serial. Its like so good lah...
All the veteran actors namely Chew Chor Meng, Li Nanxing and Chen Liping are bloody good...

Oh and Tay Ping Hui 's character is so hate-able... Grrr.... Don't let me see Tay Ping Hui in person, man...

Oh, did I tell you I saw Christopher Lee and Jeanette Aw in my school? They were filming some new drama serial... I think the characters are students from my (Architecture) course. They were filming some scenes of their Freshmen Orientation Camp and stuff like that.

And they were using mainland Chinese people for the extras... Like hello? We so don't look like them lah... We do not wear polo Tees with khaki pants and running shoes.... Like yucks...

    But we do dress sloppier..

    Uncle Shazi.

I was wondering what my 'title' would be now.
What my little niece would be calling me soon after she says her first words.

Uncle? Pakcik? Cu? Cik Bongsu? Uncle Cu?
('Bongsu' is Malay for 'youngest child' and 'Pakcik' is Malay for 'uncle')

Well, I have decided to be known as Uncle Izan since that was what my cousins' kids called me... but now they just call me Izan.

Did I mention before that I have been 'demoted' a generation now? I feel like I am no longer amongst the generation of my cousins but instead I am in the one after that, that of their kids'.

Firstly, cause I am the youngest of my cousins on my Dad's side and secondly, I am still schooling while all my other cousins, including the one who is just a year older than me, are married with at least three kids in tow...

I hang around with their kids now... Haha... That's so pathetic.

OK, OK, back to my niece.

I have been relishing the role of an uncle now: cradling her, watching her bathe, playing with her and doting on my little princess.

    Sigh...

I will never get it how people can abandon babies just like that. Especially newborns. Or worst how those monsters can take away their tiny little lives by smothering or going physical on the baby or... other horrendous barbaric acts...

    What wrong have they done?

Don't even get me started on abortion... I am definitely a pro-li
    fe supporter now.

    Again, I'm digressing.
So back to this silly uncle of hers.

I was helping my Mum to feed the crying baby one time and my Mum had asked me to test the temperature of the milk in the bottle that had been partially submerged in a mug of hot water.

So she said in Malay, "Pour out a bit of the milk on the back of your hand and 'rasa'."
Well, to those who don't understand Malay, 'rasa' has two meanings: it can mean 'feel' or it can also mean 'taste'.

So you all must already now which of the two I did.
Luckily it wasn't breast milk. Or else it would have been very... very weird...

    "Ermm... That's my uncle..."

    She's extremely cute, isn't she?
    (Suri
Cruise definitely has a tough competitor.)
Her eyes are big and round, her lips small and cute and her hair thick and long. I fell in love with her the moment I first laid my eyes on her.

One of her first shots after the delivery. She still has a bit of blood above her upper lip. And look at how active she can be, looking around with those huge peepers of hers and nibbling her tiny but slender fingers.

Me carrying her the first time. She is so small and fragile I was really nervous. And I kinda teared. Words can't describe how happy I was, how happy I still am... and how happy I will always be.

I never knew I could be this happy, just stroking your soft hair
    and staring into your eyes.
