Hanging up my dancing shoes forever?
Bitched on: Wednesday, November 01, 2006
Sigh...Time: 11/01/2006 02:10:00 AM Had a talk with a friend of mine about CCAs (co-curricular activities) and stuff. Seems like a lot of people have lives outside their academic life and I have none. Salsaing, rock-wall climbing, deejaying... and what do I have? Blogging... blah... I'm bored out of my mind... I want to dance, dammit! FYI (For your information) I got into NUS Blast about a month ago. NUS Blast is this hip hop dance group in the university which is really awesome. But I can't join this semester cause my the dance practices would clash with my tutorials... So I have to join next semester. Mind you, its damn hard to get into the NUS Blast thingy, OK? Over a hundred auditioned and I think less than a fifth got in. And the audition was tough too; we had to perform a 2 minutes performance which we learnt like 15 minutes before. And amazingly, I got through. Haha... I have never danced hip hop ever (cept for this really short performance back in secondary school) and I have never learnt it (as in for CCAs or outside). The only 'official' dance background I had was from (..don't laugh...) Malay dance back in NJC (National Junior College). I joined it for the SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) and the CCA points that come along with it when we bagged Gold Award for our performance at the SYF Central Judging (...who's laughing now?). Anyway, it wasn't the *shake here shake there* traditional dance, it was the contemporary type, with thick bamboo poles (not the sort to hang clothes out) and some climbing and jumping about. Anyway, that's not what I wanted to blog about. My intention is to lament how I am so swamped with my architecture course right now that I might have to shelve the idea of dancing for NUS Blast, not just for one semester, but for good... Sigh... Whenever I watch ' So you think you can dance', I'm like always, "yeah, I can do that... if I had the time..." I so envy them. They look so... super amazing. Dammit! I want to dance. And I aspire to be like these guys. Prepix from Korea. They are FREAKING AMAZING! This one is called Mirror Story. And this is called Fantasy Performance. I love the part at 03:15/04:08. So Matrix!!! Loves it!!! And Wade Robson is like 'GOD'. His performance at the recent Overdrive at Esplanade, Singapore. Shivers down my spine... Labels: dance, school, YouTube 0 comments |
